A Drop of Tasawwuf

Tassawuf - Literal Arabic meaning for “Process of wrapping yourself with wool.” Symbolic Arabic meaning for “The process of Self-Realization.”

Think of anyone successful whom you aspire to be like.

Anyone.

They obviously got to where they were/are because of hard work. There’s no doubt about it.

But what caused these immensely successful people to work hard, one may ask?

The answer is simple: Self-realization.

It sounds mystical and cliche, I know. But often what’s cliche is what really works.

I won’t go into religion too much here, but in Islam, specifically Sufi Islam (mystical Islam), there is something called “Tassawuf”.

Of course, in modern times, Sufis (those who practice mystical Islam) don’t actually put on wool 24/7, but rather they are striving to be in a constant state of self-realization.

They strive to go deep inside the depths of their individuality to try to understand the mystical power within themselves, then strive to manifest it in the world around them.

In more simple words, they are always in a state of self-improvement through trying to always understand who they are and why they are here.

Might remind you of those people in your life who never stop working and pretty much don’t know how to take a break.

We’ve all seen them. They are always striving to become better individuals.

Those are the types of people we should become.

This is the mindset a dreamer, more importantly an alchemist, must have. Hence, The Dreamer’s Alchemy.

Now, I’m not saying you have to become a monk and go on top of a hill to meditate on the structure of the universe for 20 years.

I’m saying you have to understand who you truly are at the highest moral state you can be in order to conduct yourself in the best manner possible. You've got to get your "A game" on.

Unfortunately, most people go through life never tapping into their true individuality, thus unable to live life with full determination, enthusiasm, and deep-rooted confidence in their abilities.

Whereas those who strive gallantly to realize who they are in all aspects of human existence are those who reach the top in what they are aiming for. They're the ones who achieve their dreams.

You have choices to make from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. Which choices will you make? Will you make choices that will enhance your self-improvement journey? Or will you keep being average, never truly knowing what you were meant to accomplish on earth?

We like to make excuses, but at the end of the day, it's all up to you.

When are you going to start "Tasawwuf"?

I'll answer for you.

Right now.
