Take Your Dreams Seriously

"Don't give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you." - John Wooden, former UCLA Head Basketball Coach

We only got one shot at life folks.

Too often do we find ourselves laying on the couch binge watching actors and actresses play out their dreams on Netflix while our own dreams pass on by.

Everyone who's ever lived has had opportunities to pursue their dreams, but unfortunately most never took advantage of them.

That’s why we see laziness, fear, and low self-confidence as some of the most common qualities shared amongst people all over the world.

Most people are mediocre, a nightmarish group of people to be around if you take your dreams seriously.

And chances are, if you happened to come across this article, you're taking your dreams seriously or at least thinking about it.

Because let me tell you, if you sit down with anyone in the world and get them to open up about what they truly believe in, they'll all express how they indivisibly know that they are here for a purpose, and that every human in existence was destined to fulfill that purpose, something I like to call the "spark".

As some of you may know, I usually speak about that "spark" each of us have experienced which lets us know what our purpose is; what our dream is. One of the first articles I've ever published was about that, actually. Click here for the link to that article.

Essentially, no one will know about this spark but you. It'll be an experience specifically designed by God or the Universe (whichever you wish to call this divine phenomena) for you to partake in. If you ever try to explain it to someone else while your eyes are glowing and your aura magnifies tenfold but they look at you as if you're high, you're talking about that spark.

Each of us have been born with some purpose crafted by that spark. Every religious tradition or man-made philosophy preaches that truth. Not only that, but they all say that to find true happiness, (you know, the happiness leaving you're heart full of love and satisfaction with life), you must live for something bigger than yourself. You must fulfill your purpose, and take heed to the spark.

If you don't believe me, think about someone you know who works night and day, comes home exhausted, but is one of the most satisfied people you've met.

The reason why that individual is satisfied yet absolutely exhausted to the core is because their purpose is being fulfilled one day at a time. Essentially, they've taken that cliché spark seriously.

And nowadays, you see someone like that and think they're some sort of superstar compared to the rest of us. As I said earlier, most people these days are mediocre bums (maybe it's even you).

Some of you may take offense to that, but I'm not going to apologize. Sometimes, tough love is what we need, and a stab to the ego is what is required to begin that first step.

Look, I know it's hard to begin believing in your dreams and fully grasp the thought of taking something society has taught you to see as cliché, but the clock is ticking.

We only got one shot at life, and if you want to fulfill your purpose, you might as well start right now.

Martin Luther King Jr once famously said, "The time is always right to do what is right."

And he really hit home with that.

If you think it's too late, think again. You still have time. If you're reading this right now, you're probably still inhaling oxygen into your lungs, (meaning you're still alive and have time left.)

Therefore, use what you've learned so far in this journey called life, and start taking your dreams seriously.

Take your spark seriously.
